The Collection of the Friends of the Fotostiftung Schweiz comprises almost 1,500 photographs purchased by the society of Friends of the Fotostiftung Schweiz over a period of more than thirty years. Focal points of the collection are the “new photography” of the 1920s, the photography of the FSA (Farm Security Administration) in the US, the “Subjective Photography” of the 1950s, artists’ portraits and larger groups of photographic works from Brazil and Japan. Since the objectives of the collection were reformulated in 2008, additions to the collection have been mainly bodies of work by photographers who have enriched the contemporary Swiss photography landscape by their striking independent approaches.
The Collection of the Friends of the Fotostiftung Schweiz is on permanent loan to the Fotostiftung Schweiz.
