The FREUNDE DER FOTOSTIFTUNG SCHWEIZ Association supports the activities of the Stiftung by means of special purchases. This support has led to the development of a high-calibre collection of classics of the international history of photography, which extends and completes the existing collection which is concentrated primarily on Switzerland. The collection of the FREUNDE DER FOTOSTIFTUNG SCHWEIZ, which includes works by Eugène Atget, Bill Brandt, Walker Evens, Man Ray and August Sander may be accessed online. The writer Hugo Loetscher provided commentaries to some of the images.

Today, in addition to masterpieces of photographic history, the FREUNDE DER FOTOSTIFTUNG SCHWEIZ is primarily interested in purchasing groups of works by photographers who have enriched contemporary Swiss photography by their individual, clearly defined quality. Purchases in 2008 comprise the large-scale work "Falsche Chalets" by Christian Schwager (who was born in 1966) and the 107-part installation "What you see" by Luciano Rigolini (who was born in 1950).
